Santiago Santa María Morales is Head of AI Forward Deployed Engineers for Latin America at Google Cloud, where he helps organizations turn frontier AI into production systems. A physicist by training and formerly at NTT DATA Syntphony, his work centres on Harness Engineering: the emerging discipline of building everything around the model — memory, tools, evaluation, governance — so that agents are reliable, auditable and worth their cost. He writes the EUREKA newsletter and maintains santismm.com, an open, machine-readable knowledge platform (MCP, APIs, agent taxonomies) cited and consumed by people and AI agents alike.

Santiago Santa María Morales is Head of AI Forward Deployed Engineers for Latin America at Google Cloud, where he works with organizations across the region to turn frontier AI into systems that run in production, respect company policy and fail safely. He previously led conversational and generative AI initiatives at NTT DATA Syntphony, delivering agent platforms to banking, retail and telecommunications clients across Europe, the Americas and Asia. He is a physicist by training. His central thesis: the bottleneck in applied AI is no longer the model but the harness — everything built around it: memory, tools, context, evaluation, observability and governance. On that conviction he has articulated Harness Engineering as a discipline with its own definition, taxonomy and handbook, published openly at santismm.com: a machine-readable knowledge platform that exposes its corpus over MCP, JSON APIs and llms.txt, with agentic patterns, reference architectures, governance frameworks (EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF) and a vector taxonomy of commercial agents. He writes the EUREKA newsletter (in Spanish and English) on AI, agents and robotics, focused on real-world impact: business, society and people. He has delivered keynotes, panels and workshops in Madrid, Boston, Tokyo and several Latin American capitals, connecting frontier research with business decisions.
